8th grade ELA students had a silent debate about their graphic novel excerpt to finish up their unit on Holocaust-era literature. By responding to questions on the poster, students had to take a position on 4 different topics and support those positions with text evidence. They were then given the opportunity to silently reply to one another's stances and to ask questions.

This is what a happy little artist looks like!

Sixth graders reviewed for their test on equations by playing "Capture the Flag" this week. 🚩They enjoyed getting out of their seats collecting flags for their correct answers. At the end, they discovered the flags were worth varying points, and the fastest team didn't necessarily with the game. 😮

We're still in sick season- boo! Just some reminders about when your student should stay home. Please call your student's school nurse for specific questions or concerns.

Kinders 🩷 speech therapy!
A couple of kindergarten speech students got crafty today while practicing on their speech and language skills!

The 5th grade students recently finished up their plaster formed, conversation hearts! We learned about 2D vs. 3D and how awesome plaster can be when it's not being used for broken bones!

Speech students strive for a high number of repetitions when they are working on their articulation skills! They like to battle their way to 100! This means they are getting an opportunity to practice their speech sound 100 times! 🤩

This week we are highlighting the Monroe Elementary kitchen staff! They make up a critical component of the school dynamics!
Thanks for being so great!

Phil the Groundhog may have seen his shadow, but it's not keeping students from working on multiple meanings during Speech!

Mrs. Robinson's kindergarten class had a blast celebrating the 100th day! We had a morning filled with 100th day centers. Then we spent the afternoon making necklaces with 100 fruit loops and we made a gigantic ice cream cone.

Kindergarten classes kicked off the 100th day of school with first dressing like 100 year olds, having centers based around the 100th day of school, made 100 fruit loop necklaces, and paraded around showing their costumes. Even the teachers and aides got in on the fun day dressing like old ladies.
