A few weeks ago, Monroe held the annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser! To help students meet new, incredible reading goals, some awesome incentives were put in place for various "minute marks" during the two weeks. The top minute incentive maxed out at 500+ minutes of reading logged per student for the two week time span. These are the students who achieved 500 minutes or higher!! They were awarded with a 45 minute extra recess at Fairview Park, along with a new pair of sunglasses! We think they look pretty spiffy! Great job, readers!

Early dismissal tomorrow (an hour early) and no school the 16th through the 21st. Have a great break.

This week, we are spotlighting our fantastic 1st grade team! Meet Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Dryden, and Ms. Smiley. Stay tuned for more great teams at Monroe!

Mrs. Sackrider's Kindergarten class had a busy Friday. In math we are working on 2D shapes and pulled out manipulatives to make the lesson fun and allow for the students to get creative.
Kindergarten classes are also beginning the final countdown of school with an ABC countdown. For each letter in the alphabet a fun activity or snack is planned daily. Today was A is for art. We did a directive drawing of how to make an Easter Bunny and then brought out the watercolors to make their pictures colorful.
